Fashion Fix Friday
Fashion Fix Friday – 28th February Edition
So, florals are in (again) this spring. There are lots of ways to wear this trend and it’s not just a “girly girl” thing.
1. Obvious floral
What I mean by this is that it’s clear that what you’re wearing has flowers on it. There are pieces everywhere with lots of different types of flower, sizes and colour so you can find a garment that fits with your personal shape, style and colouring.
Remember, you don’t want what you’re wearing to overpower you, so also consider how a pattern looks on you. For example, where are the flowers placed on you? We don’t want it drawing the eye to areas you would rather disguise – we want them to draw attention to areas you’re happy with.
My top picks currently in store are:
Knit by Kling – fun daisies, 100% cotton and only £39. Love this worn with jeans, trousers and skirts, it’s so versatile. Be careful of the neckline and daisy placement if you’re big busted though, it could end up being unflattering.
Bomber jacket by Goldie – a bold floral print on this spring’s must-have jacket and only £60. Keep the lower half plain to let the jacket do the talking. If you’re worried about bunching fabric around the middle when the jacket’s zipped, then don’t zip it – layer underneath to keep you warm and wear the bomber open.
Top (or dress) by Sketch – this a more feminine take on the floral trend by a local designer and only £42. This shape suits a pear-shaped girl perfectly because there’s a tie at the back to nip this in and it gently flares over the hips. Wear as a top over skinny jeans or leggings or if you’re brave (or shorter) this looks amazing as a dress.
2. Accessorised floral
Not sure that floral is for you but would like to try this trend, then opting for an accessory is your best bet. Choose a scarf, corsage, necklace, ring or earrings – whatever takes your fancy and suits your personal style.
My favourites in store at the moment are the floral necklaces in bight neon and the blingy rings!. They look fantastic against a neutral background and a perfect way to introduce floral and colour to your wardrobe.
Necklace £20
Ring £10
3. Subtle floral
This is for you if you’re concerned about the flowers wearing you and not the other way round! Choose a smaller floral print so from a distance, it isn’t obvious or A Postcard from Brighton has used a faded floral print in their Spring collection.
We love this Postcard sweatshirt, it is classic sports luxe – looking effortlessly fabulous on the school run anyone! Available in coral tones of tinted white it’s a bargain at £60 when you think how often you’ll wear it!
This tunic by Goldie also works really well because the flowers are small. One size and £49, this will take you from spring into summer by layering under and over now and wearing on it’s on sunny days.
Be careful with belts if you are apple shaped as the belt can draw the eye to the middle – be confident that you’re comfortably before buying. This top is great though as you can take the belt off!
